Terezín ghetto by children’s eyes.
The red ribbon is a set of three short stories in which the author describes her own experience of a small child in the Terezín ghetto. The stories seen through children’s eyes and narrated by children’s language are designed primarily for small readers, but the powerful text also appeals to adults. Stories are literally built on paintings – of words and art. Besides the images of hunger, fear, sadness, there are experiences with closeness, joys and small victories.
Annika Tetzner was born in the Terezín ghetto. Only she survived the war of the entire large family. Now she lives in Israel. About her experience in early childhood she has written several books, accompanied by her own illustrations: Bloodflowers, Lullabies for Annika (for this book she won the EFF-Award in 2006). Her paintings, mostly with the theme of Holocaust, are shown around the world. Annika Tetzner didn’t stopp looking for her distant relatives and their descendants, she regularly visits the Czech Republic, and cooperates with the Jewish Museum of Prague, with Czech Television and Czech Radio on preparing of programs for children about Holocaust.
