The author about the exhibition:
Working on the exhibition is from the very beginning determined by the situs and space of Terezín Memorial . Here, at the 4th courtyard, in a former mass cell, it takes place as an installation of drawings, paintings and graphics. A flow, a river of drawings runarounds the walls and clashes with formations of the graphic and painting. They are the substance, the symbol, of my three large Terezín´s exhibitions:
“Psalms“ 1995 – “Millenium“ 1999 – “The Song of Songs“ 2005
Twenty years ago, during the installation of a beneficient exhibition, it has all begun. Bewitched by a place. Right here, at the 4th courtyard, a forceful motion made me look up to the sky and Terezín´s sky unfolded in front of me. An impact, a fatal moment, something like a mystical experience. Together with humbleness, when a human being draws aside himself in order to let the thoughts, the message speak. For me it was The Old Testament Book, introduced since my childhood. A common language. This base was the origin of the cycle “Psalms“. Black and white prints, size 70 x 200 cm, based on the ornament of Hebrew lettering and sign, created by my own technique.
Four years later I exhibit the cycles of paintings: “Millenium – Holocaust“. The signs of time, labyrinths, a variation at millenium with quotations of “Fifteen Scenes of Dürer’s Apocalypse“
The exhibition from 2005 carries the message of life and love. The Old Testament Book “The Song of Songs of Solomon“ is the motto of the cycle, aimed at – just therefore – the place of suffering and death. Present exhibition can be read as a book, it’s details are a life testimony.
Last year I was obsessed by drawings. An idea was born for “River of Time“. By means of maquettes I have tried many different designs of installation within the exhibition space. I have chozen one of them, which is, within the maquette, associated to the catalogue.
The installation is a creative adventure. Despite all the preparation, well-consideration and testing, it is a work brought to life just at this time, in this place, unrepeatable and fragile, just like our life….
