 I. The Terezín Memorial Area

1. The Terezín Memorial is an organisation with a distinct legal entity, a supported organisation of the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, which is the founder. The Terezín Memorial is in the Czech state ownership.
2. Among the properties administered by the Terezín Memorial are: the Small Fortress and the National Cemetery – national cultural monument; the Ghetto Museum and the Park of the Terezín Children; a part of the former Magdeburg barracks; the Jewish Cemetery and Crematorium; the Columbarium with fort remnants, ceremonial halls and the central ghetto morgue; the Prayer Hall of the ghetto time and replica of Attic; the Russian Cemetery; the Cemetery of Soviet Soldiers; the Memorial Plaque by the rail siding; the Memorial Site by the river Ohre; the Crematorium of the former concentration camp in Litoměřice town and the entrance area of the former underground factory Richard in Litoměřice.

II. Opening Hours

1. Small Fortress:
   • Winter time – 1^st November – 31^st March: daily 8:00 – 16:30
   • Summer time – 1^st April – 31^st October: daily 8:00 – 18:00
2. Ghetto Museum and former Magdeburg Barracks:
   • Winter time – 1^st November – 31^st March : daily 9:00 – 17:30
   • Summer time – 1^st April – 31^st October: daily 9:00 – 18:00
3. Crematorium at Jewish Cemetery:
   • closed on Saturdays
   • Winter time – 1^st November – 31^st March: Sunday – Friday 10:00 – 16:00
   • Summer time – 1^st April – 31^st October: Sunday – Friday 10:00 – 18:00
4. Columbarium, ceremonial halls and central mortuary:
   • Winter time – 1^st November – 31^st March: daily 9:00 – 17:00
   • Summer time – 1^st April – 31^st October: daily 9:00 – 18:00
5. Prayer Hall of the ghetto time:
   • Winter time – 1^st November – 31^st March: daily 9:00 – 17:30
   • Summer time – 1^st April – 31^st October: daily 9:00 – 18:00
6. Other sites are either freely accessible or their opening times correspond to the times of the neighbouring site; the Crematorium of the former CC at Litoměřice may be visited only by prior arrangement. The entrance area of the former underground factory Richard is not open to the public.
7. The opening hours change for the summer or winter times on the day following the official winter/summer time change (October and March). The Data 31^st October/1^st November and 31^st March/1^st April are therefore only approximate!
8. Closing times of all sites are 24^th – 26^th December and on 1^st January.
9. Opening days and hours of particular sites are liable to change for operational reasons; under exceptional circumstances the management of the Terezín Memorial may decide to close a part of a tour route for the public.
10. Every third Sunday in May at 10 o’clock there is a Terezín commemoration ceremony taking place at the National Cemetery in front of the Small Fortress. During this event the Small Fortress is not accessible to the public.

III. Admission

1. Admission is required to the following buildings:
   • Small Fortress
   • Ghetto Museum
   • former Magdeburg Barracks
     • Admission is free on the day of the commemoration event, i.e. on 3rd Sunday in May, and on 27th January on the occasion of the International Day of Holocaust Remembrance and Prevention of Crimes against Humanity
2. Admission to other sites is not collected, however, their visit is conditioned by a valid entrance ticket into one of the buildings mentioned in the previous point. Any authorised person can require to see and verify the validity of the entrance ticket. Tickets are not inspected on: 1st June, 28th September, 28th October.
3. E-kiosks are installed in the entrance areas of the Small Fortress, the former Magdeburg barracks and the Prayer room from the ghetto period. They are publically accessible and free of charge.
4. Admission is paid ahead of the start of each tour. Prices and possible changes in guided tours are published on notice boards at ticket offices of individual objects.
5. Admission may be paid by invoice; in such case, a prior written order containing all necessary data (address of the orderer, company and tax registration numbers etc.) is required. Noncash payments may be approved by the competent Memorial staff, however, cannot be demanded. In case of poor payment history, payment in cash may be required, even though payment by invoice had already been approved of.
6. In return for the admission fee, visitor obtains a ticket, which is to be retained for the entire length of the tour and on request presented to the Terezín Memorial staff. Ticket is valid only on the day of purchase and only for one tour of a given site.
7. The following discounts on standard admission may be applied to:
   • youth of 6 – 18 years of age, seniors, and college students upon the presentation of a valid student card,
   • families with no more than 2 adults and 3 children – “family admission“
   • groups
     • Eligibility for a discount must be proved by an appropriate ID.
8. Free admission to sites is granted to:
   • children up to 6 years of age,
   • teachers and bus drivers accompanying a group of students or pupils,
   • former prisoners of the concentration camps and other persecution facilities of WW2,
   • members of ICOM, AMG, NPÚ staff etc. upon presentation of an appropriate ID,
   • journalists,
   • people with disabilities – ZTP/ZTP-P card-holders,
   • Terezín permanent residents.
     • Eligibility for free access must be proved by an appropriate ID.

IV. Sight-seeing

1. Sights may be seen either individually or in a tour conducted by a Terezín Memorial guide.
2. Only guides authorised by the Terezín Memorial are allowed to take tours around the Small Fortress.
3. It is recommended to order a guide in writing in advance – groups with a confirmed order have precedence in assigning guides.
4. When entering areas with a limited visitor capacity (small cells, passages etc.), a guided tour comes always first. Other visitors will be asked to kindly wait until the end of the TM guide’s presentation.
5. There is a strict ban on smoking at all sites of the Terezín Memorial, including the Small Fortress.

V. Other use of the Terezín Memorial premises

1. Musical, singing, dramatic and other performances at the TM property may take place only with a permission of the TM management and in accordance with therein set conditions.
2. Taking pictures and videos is allowed in both the exteriors and interiors solely for the personal use of visitors – for safety reasons it is prohibited to use selfie sticks and tripods in the interiors, as well as flashlight in exhibitions.
3. Professional filming and video recording for other purposes than for personal use is possible only under specific authorization of the TM management and must be negotiated in writing in advance.
4. At the Terezín Memorial premises there is forbidden to:
   • trade from stalls or vend in any way,
   • beg visitors for financial or other support.

VI. Protection of the cultural monuments and security of collections

1. Throughout the entire stay at the sites of the Terezín Memorial, visitors are kindly requested to behave in a civil and courteous manner, with respect to the historical, social and cultural importance of the Terezín Memorial, and with the deepest consideration to the material nature of this cultural monument as well as to other visitors.
2. Visitors are bound to follow the instructions of the TM staff. Failing to act upon instructions issued in the interest of visitor safety, site or collection protection will result in ordering the visitor out without admission refund or in handing them over to appropriate disciplinary authorities.
3. It is forbidden to damage buildings, collections, green or any other property at the area of the Terezín Memorial and disturb other visitors, in particular to:
   • touch displayed objects,
   • write or paint on the walls or damage them in other ways,
   • walk off the tour route,
   • disturb guides or other visitors by making noise (music, unpermitted singing, reproduced music or voice, loud speech etc.),
   • eat and drink inside buildings or enter them with ice-creams, drinks etc.,
   • pick up flowers, break off tree or bush branches, walk on lawns or off marked paths etc.,
   • ride bicycles, scooters, roller-skate, skateboard etc.; wheelchair users are welcome,
   • enter sites with dogs or other animals,
   • throw litter anywhere except into litter bins,
   • disturb the peace and order in any way.

VII. Fire prevention and visitor safety

1. There is a strict ban on smoking and open fire inside all buildings. In case of fire, visitors are bound to follow the instructions of the Terezín Memorial staff.
2. Every visitor is insured against injury sustained during the tour around the Terezín Memorial. If injured during the tour, visitor is to contact the TM staff.
3. The management of the Terezín Memorial bears no responsibility for injuries and damages arisen due to violation of the Visitor Code of Conduct.

VIII. Final provisions

1. Suggestions, complains and comments may be left by visitors in writing in the Suggestions and Complains Book, which is on request available at all ticket offices of the Terezín Memorial, or visitors are welcome to address the management of the TM in another way.
2. This Visitor Code of Conduct comes into effect on the day of its public display and fully replaces the previous version with Ref. No. 0622/2013 from 15th July 2013.
